Lee NH - In 2009 Lee USA Speedway hosted it's second ever monster truck show over 4th of july weekend. The 2009 edition was bigger and better than the 2008 edition. As the fans filed out of the packed facility, after dealing with weather problems all weekend, they all had one question in their minds, "Will they do it again in 2010?"
The questions seemed to die down over the winter and it became a "back burner issue" for fans of NH's Center Of Speed. That was until January 8 and 9 at the Verizon Wireless Arena.
Fans that attended the USHRA Monster Jam Thundernationals event at the famed Manchester arena were made VERY aware of the presence of Lee USA Speedway. Lee USA Speedway was prominently featured as a part of the USHRA Advance Auto Parts Pit Party and several drivers took a few parade laps around the arena before the start of all three shows.
A large number of Lee staff members and drivers, including Late Model Champion Wayne Helliwell Jr., Small Block Super Champion Dan Bowes, lead official Bill Callen, and Promoter Bob Watson were in attendance for the trio of shows, and the staff members were in uniform.
Well over four thousand fans saw the events unfold in the arena and a majority f those that the staff spoke with expressed an interest in seeing the monsters return to Lee as well as seeing what Lee USA Speedway has to offer for weekly racing action.
Track Promoter Bob Watson stopped short of confirming anything for 2010 with the monster Trucks, but did say "We did it bigger and better in 2009 than we did in 2008. IF we do it again in 2010 we will have to go for broke." he added, with a twinkle and his trademark smirk "I think our fans can figure out what that means" as he pointed to a certain world famous monster truck.
The fans at Lee USA Speedway have a lot to look forward to at Lee in 2010. Car Soccer is just about set to go, the Late Models have grown again, the Ironman division has a "secret admirer" that has put them in a position that no other starting series has ever been in before, the Small Block Supers have 18 drivers that have committed to running every week (the largest committed field for a season since the inception of the division), and there is a chance that the facility will celebrate the birth-date of our nation with the biggest race vehicles on the planet yet again.
Did we mention that ISMA would be making TWO trips in 2010? Yep, TWO trips to Lee for the winged warriors of ISMA. Watch for the schedule at www.leeusaspeedway.com in the coming months.
